We match volunteer roles with your skills.
You can spend as much or as little time as you want volunteering with us. Some volunteer roles require an ongoing regular commitment, whilst others are more flexible. There are many one-off opportunities with events such as Daffodil Day and Relay For Life.
Our volunteer roles include:
-
helping in our accommodation
-
supporting people at their hospital appointments
-
driving people with cancer to their appointments
-
giving us a hand in our offices
-
helping at our events
-
making turbans, hats or cushions for people to use during treatment
-
baking food for patients or accommodation guests

Regular Giving
Become a Southern GEM to make a lasting impact
Give Each Month (GEM) to provide crucial support in your community. Your monthly gift enables us to extend our reach to more local families across the South Island with cancer support, while also paving the path towards reducing the overall impact of cancer in the future.

You Can for Cancer
You Can for Cancer is our do-it-yourself fundraising platform, which lets you turn any activity into a fundraiser and take action in the fight against cancer in Aotearoa, New Zealand. You can create and share multiple personalised fundraising-profiles quickly and easily.
The funds you raise will contribute to cancer research, prevention and support services for New Zealander's who need our support the most.

Volunteer
Volunteers play an important role in providing our support and services right across the southern region.
People volunteer for different reasons, but they all bring skills, passion and energy to their roles. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, but they are all committed to reducing the impact and incidence of cancer.
We wouldn’t be able to support, inform and empower those affected by cancer without our team of dedicated volunteers. You can positively impact your community, be part of a team, share your experience, learn new skills, and develop lasting friendships.
Bequests
Bequests and legacies are one way in which you can make a tangible difference in the lives of those impacted by cancer, and help us improve outcomes for future generations through research, advocacy, education and awareness.
If you are interested in discussing leaving a bequest to the Cancer Society Southern and would like someone to contact you, please email us or call <insert contact details here>.

Things to Consider
As you consider including the Cancer Society Southern in your Will, you may find it helpful to think about the following:
-
When considering a bequest we encourage you to first take care of family and other loved ones.
-
If you don’t have a Will, make sure you contact your legal advisor, to ensure your wishes are correctly and legally stated.
-
If you already have a Will, including a bequest to us is straight forward. Simply ask your legal advisor to add a codicil to your existing Will.
-
Your gift can be made in any of several ways – a specified amount of money, a percentage of the residue value of your estate, or of a particular item(s) such as property or shares.
-
No gift is too small and you can be sure that it will be used wisely to benefit future generations.
